Emalahleni, South Africa
What is your idea / business and to whom is it addressed?
My project is an agricultural initiative focusing on market gardening, aquaculture and poultry. The project solves Africa's most pertinent nutritional problem; protein and vitamins. The market is readily available in domestic or individual households, retailers, wholesalers, boarding schools government departments and parastatals.
How should the idea/business earn money?
A large percentage of South Africa's poultry products are imported mainly from Latin America. The market is inexhaustible and prices are very competitive. In addition, inland cities and towns are starved of fish in their diets and prices are even higher. On the market gardening side there is constant demand for produce such as beets, cabbage, spinach and butternut. Furthermore, labour costs and land costs are very low. The idea is to start with the poultry project because it has a quicker turnover. The aquaculture and market gardening will then be funded from the profits. Taken as an individual project the poultry project will see a return on investment within a year.
At what stage is the idea / business at the moment?
The project can be up and running within a month. I come with a lot of expertise in the field having managed a similar project before. I will put on the work myself initially with the help of one employee until all systems and checks are in place.
What do you need?
I am looking for a partner or investor to see this project off the ground. A once off investment of $1500-$2000 will suffice.
